“Haven’t you read”’ he replied, “that at the beginning the Creator made them male and female’, and said ‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife and the two will become one flesh’? So they are no longer two, but one. Therefore what God has joined together, let man not separate.” – Matthew 19:3-6
How is it possible for someone to become one flesh with another? They become one flesh because they are united under the umbrella of one spirit. Man and woman are united as one through the spirit of God. They both profess their love of God, which brings about one master, one love, one spirit. When two become one and create there is no greater union. Where the spirit is one and unity and love exist between the two; it is as though they are one flesh. Unity is not possible if your masters are not one and the same. It says ‘therefore what God has joined let man not separate.’ God joins in spirit. Man joins simply in flesh. Separation of spirit can only come about through sin. When we are joined in spirit we are joined in love. We should therefore not find ourselves in a situation where we love another. Our first love should continue to exist for all eternity as strong, as faithful, as persevering, as enduring as it was in the beginning. Not everyone can accept or give this pureness of love – if you can’t abide by it, it is better for you not enter into marriage. It is impossible to give such a love unless you have already established your love for God. You must go within, wake up and develop your spirit in the characteristics of the Holy Spirit. You must be one with God before you are able to be one in Gods love with another.
