Meditation 5 – The Bible is like a Mirror

Meditation 5 - The Bible is like a Mirror

The bible is like a mirror within which you either see what it is like to live in full consciousness and awareness of the spirit of God or what it is like to live in denial of the power within.

Diary Entry 25.03.04

Reading the bible fails to give respite to my aching soul. The words fail to sooth, instead they irritate. I can’t live up to the ideal of a loving compassionate being and yet I refuse to see myself in the disobedient characters. I could simply console myself with the conclusion that perhaps it’s an ideal that was never meant to be achievable. I am like a mad person in denial unable to recognise my reflection in the mirror.

As you develop your awareness of the power within, you fuel its ability to purify the mind and body; you surrender yourself over to the will of the power within to develop characteristics that the bible describes as fruits of the Holy Spirit. Your mind opens up to the meaning of walking in the footsteps of Jesus and you can acknowledge the resemblance of yourself in characters such as Job, David, Abraham, Paul and Moses.

The journey within is a slow and painful process and yet there is nothing more worthwhile that you could invest your time and energy in.

‘Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.’

1 Corinthians 13:12
