Meditation 63 – Temple Tax

Jesus asked ‘From whom do the kings of this earth collect duty and taxes – from their own sons or from others? ‘From others’, Peter answered. Then the sons are exempt, Jesus said to him.

Matthew 17:25-26

If we have truly chosen to walk in the footsteps of Jesus then we are not heirs of this world. It’s as though you pay a levy for the privilege to lead a life of truth in a world darkened by unconscious living. You pursue inner fulfilment, whilst others seek external fulfilment, but inner fulfilment is a much more powerful gift.  It allows you to appreciate life fully, for it makes you grateful for the things that others take for granted or view as insignificant. It is the summed appreciation of the little things that makes us whole. It is the continuous appreciation of the little things that produces miracles for it gives you the ability to always see a flicker of light glowing even in your darkest hour.w
