When they came to the crowd, a man approached Jesus and knelt before him. ‘Lord, have mercy on my son,’ he said ‘He has seizures and is suffering greatly. He often falls into the fire or into the water. I brought him to your disciples but they could not help him.’
‘O unbelieving and perverse generation.’ Jesus replied, ‘how long shall I stay with you? Bring the boy here to me ‘Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of the boy, and he was healed from that moment.
Jesus was always in touch with the spirit, for he was in a meditative state all the time, totally at one with the Spirit of God. Everything he did, he did through the spirit, his speech, action and thought. Everything was done from a place of love. He had an open heart to the spirit of God and was able to live in God and God in him.
Just look at the scene, Jesus chastising his disciples like children. When will they learn? When will they simply believe without a grain of doubt? When will they trust as though their lives depend on it? Jesus wanted them to think and understand with their hearts not their minds. By doing this they would realise that in spirit all things are possible. Their belief would have been a deep instinctive belief in the power of God that resides within each one of us.
