Meditation 7 - Seeking God
Seeking God is synonymous with searching for that omnipotent, inexhaustible, boundless, self-sustaining source of strength, peace and knowledge. Which ever way you choose to approach the subject it is a search that takes the individual within rather than through external sources.
My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you, turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding, and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding, and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure, the you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom and from this mouth come knowledge and understanding.
Proverbs 2:1-6
The bible teaches us that there is only one way to search for the truth and that is with an open heart and mind. You need to surrender to God in order to be able to acknowledge him. Surrendering yourself over to God is about giving your body and soul over to his will. It is about trusting him with everything that you are without expectation of anything in return. It is an open heartedness reached at a point in time when we deny the body’s hold over the mind and acknowledge the spirit of God. It’s a point in time that could be described as becoming aware of the spirit, waking the spirit up out of its slumber or bringing consciousness or awareness of your intuitive nature to the fore front of your life.
Meditation facilitates the resurrection of the spirit allowing you to be the patient silent observer of a process that cannot be tied to a specific point in time.
The wind blows where it pleases. You hear its sound but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the spirit.
