Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down the streams rose , and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.
The Divine power within us is not manifested by creating symbols of a Deity in the form of statues and pictures. Nor is it manifested by devoting time and effort to carrying out religious performances in an effort to satisfy our desire to appear and feel holy. We are simply positioning ourselves far from the truth when our hearts and minds are not focused on developing the spirit within ourselves. Awareness of the spirit residing within brought about through disassociated observation of our sensations brings us to the recognition, realisation and experience of the power within and lays the foundations of our spiritual houses. Through eradicating our minds of defilements we build a foundation of purity that assists us in our journey on the narrow road to salvation, for when faced with life’s vicissitudes we can stand firm. To plant yourself in the fertile soil of God you first have to find your inner seed of goodness.
