Meditation 37 – Life of Unconscious living

Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years cane up behind him and touched the edge of this cloak. She said to herself ‘ if I only touch his cloak, I will be healed.’

Jesus turned and saw her. ‘Take heart daughter,’ he said, ‘ your faith has healed you’ and the woman was healed from that moment.

The vast majority of us are perfectly happy to live life unconscious of the spirit within us, however over time the body bears the brunt of this form of unconscious living and when the burden becomes too great there is the tendency to seek out a solution, first through popular channels – through relationships, achievements and the accumulation of wealth and then succumbing to an anxious search within ourselves.

Others still may find themselves in a situation where despite being surrounded by wealth and loving people they are alone chained to pain, misery and anxiety. It is then that one’s whole being cries out for something to realign, stabilise and re-enforce waning strength and endurance.

If we are to be successful in our search for a solution to our troubles we have to be diligent and committed regardless of the overwhelming desire to give in and allow our troubles to drown us. It’s only with this determination that we have a chance of finding peace and oneness with the spirit of God.

When Jesus entered the ruler’s house and saw the flute players and the noisy crowd, he said, ‘Go away. The girl is not dead but asleep.’ But they laughed at him. After the crowd had been put outside, he went in and took the girl by the hand, and she got up. News of this spread through all that region.

Matthew 9:18-26

The little girl was like someone who had been given a second chance at life. A new lease of life is what each one of us achieves when we stop living in unconsciousness of the spirit and begin living through the power of it.
