Meditation 10 - Prayer
Prayer is for the comfort and healing of the spirit. Deal with the turmoil within and you heal the physical being. Our prayers are for the benefit and development of the spirit. It is that which you set your heart on in spirit that is fulfilled in reality.
Just then a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve year came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak. She said to her-self, ‘If I only touch his cloak, I will be healed. Jesus turned and saw her. ‘Take heart, daughter,’ he said, ‘Your faith has healed you.’ And the woman was healed from that moment.
Matthew 9: 20-22
Prayer or quiet time with God is not for the purpose of acquiring worldly possessions. Prayer is for spiritual growth and it is through this that all other things are provided for.
And do not set your heart on what you will eat or drink; For the pagan world runs after all such things, and your Father knows that you need them. But seek his kingdom and these things will be given to you as well. Provide purses for yourselves that will not wear out, a treasure in heaven that will not be exhausted, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
Luke 12:29-30
This is how you should pray:-
Our father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name – Praise him
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done – You must trust that everything will be done according to his will not ours
In earth as it is in heaven – Gods will takes place at two levels in spirit and in flesh
Give us this day our daily bread – Not food for the flesh, but food for the spirit.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us – Act from a place of love not fear. Act out of consciousness and awareness of the spirit within.
And lead us not into temptation – We ask that we may be constant in acting in line with the will of the spirit. If you are meditating all the time then you will not fall into temptation. God will remain in you and you in him.
But deliver us from evil – Learn to trust and lean on God and not rely on your own strength.
‘During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of this reverent submission.
Hebrews 5:7
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory. Amen
