Dreams
Jesus was born to Joseph who was a direct descendant of David. He was referred to as ‘Joseph son of David’ when the angel visited him in a dream. He was called son of David because of his spiritual similarity to David. We are all from one mother and father; we are brothers and sisters in Christ when we live in the light of the spirit. What I find particularly illuminating about the life of Joseph is how in tune he was with the spiritual direction of his dreams and visions.
Joseph understood that dreams and visions play an important part in giving us an insight into the pattern of our future. Dreams provide accurate personal guidance from your higher mind, the part of you that always knows the truth. Dreams are one of the many gifts of the spirit that harness the power of problem solving, decision making, healing yourself and others, even manifesting the help and resources you need to bring success and happiness into your life. Dreams put you in touch with your inner spiritual self and so like meditation assist in your spiritual growth.
Through spiritual awareness Joseph was experiencing what is spoken of in Psalm 91
‘If you make the most high your dwelling – even the Lord, who is my refuge – then no harm will befall you, no disaster will come near your tent. For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’
It’s worth bearing in mind how Joseph obeyed his dreams without hesitation, without questioning and they always delivered him and his family out of harms way.
