Immediately Jesus made the disciples get into the boat and go on ahead of him to the other side, while he dismissed the crowd. After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray.
Matthew 14:22-23
Take time out by yourself. Set time aside each day, time when you sit in quiet contemplation, time when you meditate and clear you mind of all the hustle and bustle of the day’s events. Think of it as time when you give sustenance to the one thing that will carry you through, the day, the month and the year. All of us experience days which are more taxing than others, days when your own reserves of mental and physical strength feel inadequate and you wonder where you will get the additional source of strength and courage to see you through. This is when you should be aware of an alternative source of energy that never depletes. It’s a source and reservoir of energy from within that very few of us bother to tap into.
When evening came he was there alone, but the boat was already a considerable distance from land buffeted by the waves because the wind was against it. During the fourth watch of the night Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. ‘It’s a ghost’ they said, and cried out in fear. But Jesus immediately said to them; Take courage! It is I don’t be afraid. Lord if it’s you, Peter replied ‘tell me to come to you on the water.’ ‘Come’ he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came towards Jesus, but when he saw the wind, he was afraid and beginning to sink, cried out, ‘Lord save me’. Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. ‘You of little faith,’ he said, ‘why did you doubt?’
Matthew 14:25-31
Faith must be consistent, solid and strong so that it carries you to the fulfilment of a task. It’s no use starting out on something and not completing it. For example beginning to train for a race and becoming lax after a couple of weeks. If you had but kept the training going for a month you would have noticed the difference in general fitness. So why then do we do just that with spiritual development? Why do we start on a journey that has so many benefits and tail off by the wayside when we have not even reached a quarter of the way. It is no wonder that we find our lives improve then take a turn for the worse.
Faith is like sending out positive vibes into the universe, the energy that you permeate has to remain until your highest dreams for yourself transform themselves into reality. Through this method we attract opportunities, ways in which we are able to experience ourselves at our higher level of being and ways to attract possibilities out of the impossible.
